In the world of Teaching, articles about new ways to use technology in the classroom are everywhere. Every teaching blog, newsletter, magazine and seminar covers new uses of technology. Teachers are constantly told that you, students of the 21st century, use technology every day, are tech-saavy, and need to be taught WITH technology because that is how you learn best. We are also told that, in order to prepare you for the modern workforce, we need to teach you HOW to use new technology effectively.Respond to that idea. What do you think about it? Do you think that teachers could be more effective if they used technology tools (think podcasts, web videos, online discussion forums, electronic assignment submission, tech-related project assignments)? Are modern students technologically inclined? What about being a student in Utah? Do you think that being in Utah keeps you a little behind-the-times as far as technology learning is concerned? Would YOU do better if more multi-media was used in your classrooms to teach and present, and for you to demonstrate your learning and communicate?
I think that our world is progressing and if you want a good job in the future then you do need to be tech savvy. I also believe that they should not just throw it at us all at once. They should give it to us a little at a time. We should start using computers more for typing papers, but we should still write on paper to keep that alive.
I think that teachers should use more electronics but not so much that its confusing for us. i would not like to learn on a web video i like when the teacher is in the same room and teaching us.
Being in Utah does not keep us behind. I have lived in a lot of other countries and as far i know we are not behind. If technology was used in the classroom than i would be ok with it. I think it would help prepare us for the future.

Teachers
Since we're reading Nothing But The Truth, which involves a boy who doesn't get along with a teacher, I want you to consider teacher-student relationships you've had in the past. Have you had teachers that you just got along with whether or not you did well in their class? Have you had teachers whose personality just didn't mesh with yours? Without naming names, expound upon these ideas and thoughtfully consider how personality differences or similarities have affected you in your classes.
If i did not do well in a class i prob hated the teacher. Why would you get along with a person that is failing you? It just does not happen. Unless all you get are F's. I have had a LOT of crappy teachers. One in 5Th grade hated me because of my religion. Others were just annoying and still acted like teenagers when they are single 35 and teach.
If the teacher is lame then i don't do good in the class. I need a teacher who is fun and can be serious, someone not boring but i can still learn from them.
I have also had a lot of good teachers. I loved my 6Th grade teacher. Also my 7Th and 8Th grade English teacher. I also like all my teachers right now, so far...

Balloons
Think Fast! What's your favorite thing? Write an impromptu love letter or poem to your favorite thing. (You should write for the whole 10 minutes...)
My favorite thing is Balloons.
Red, green, or blue
i don't care much
i just love you
you float high
high high in the sky
up to the sky i wave goodbye
1, 44, or 99
i don't care how many
as long as i get one
oh how much fun
you love the sun
high high in the sky
dog shaped, crown shaped
i don't mind
as long as i just have a balloon

Problems
How important is honesty to you? Is it more important than kindness? Share a story of a time you or someone you know was not honest and it caused problems or was 'too honest' and it caused problems.
I believe honesty and kindness go hand in hand. If you are not honest than you can not be kind. I think honesty and kindness have an equal importance. If you lie about something then you are obviously being rude. Which makes you not kind.
Well a story that someone was not honest....Once upon a time there was a boy who watched over a flock of sheep on a hill. Under the hill was a small town. Now this boy was not the most popular boy in his class. So he thought of an idea. He would pretend there was a wolf coming to attack the sheep. So one night he cried wolf and everyone came to see if there was a wolf. When the whole town gathered they saw no wolf. This made things worst for this boy. Now people would call him the boy who cried wolf.
So i dont know a person who exactly watched sheep on a hill, or screamed wolf. But i know poeple who lie to make them selves feel better, or try to be more popular. But in the end it never ends up to be good. So dont lie, and dont cry wolf.

POTATOES!!!!!
The world is ending. There are natural disasters happening everywhere. You know that soon you will be stranded in your house with only the food left in your cupboards. You make a mad dash to the grocery store but everyone there is in such chaos that you know you'll only have time to grab one item before escaping with your life. What item of food do you grab?Describe what the food is, how long you'll wait to eat it, what it will feel like to know you're eating it for the last time. Will you share with your family? Will you hide it away until there's nothing else left? Will you eat it a little at a time or gobble it all at once? Describe every aspect of enjoying this last savory morsel of food.
I would grab a bag of potatoes. Because you can live a long time off of potatoes. Plus you can mash them, boil them, fry them, bake them, and even microwave them!! And they are Delicious. I would not mind knowing they are my last meal.
Well i would probably wait until all of our other food went bad or was gone. Which would take a while, thank goodness for food storage. Then i would start eating the potatoes. Duh i would share with my family. I don't want them to die. I would not hide them but i would probably put them out of site.
I would eat it a little at a time. I would not gobble it all up. It would be scary knowing you are eating your last meal. Because that would mean you are about to die. Which is sad. But everyone dies. I just wish i would not die that way. Because that is a sad death.

Power
Imagine that you have a superpower. The Power of Persuasion. You can convince anyone of anything. How would you use that power? What would you try to get, do, change? Would you use it for good? Or evil? Describe what the Power of Persuasion is.
Well i would probably use it for mostly good. But sometimes for evil, like if i want something changed. But mostly for good.
I would use that power by convincing people to do good. If you are given a power then you should probably use it for the good of the people and not the bad. So you could help convince people to stop the war and everyone be happy and convince people not to harm others. How cool would it be if a person was trying to rob a bank and you totally convinced them to just go home instantly. I know there are people who already do that but sometimes it does not work. But with this power you have a 100% guarantee that they will walk away.
I think the power of persuasion is where someone can persuade soemone not to do the wrong thing. But if the world was gone of wrongs, how would we learn from our mistakes? We could not learn from them because there would be none.

Book
Write a review of the last good book you've read. You should include:1 paragraph summary- what's the story about?1 paragraph review- what did you like about the book? What could have been better?Your review: how many stars would you give it?
The last book i read was about a boy who during the Civil War was approached by Confederate spies, wanting him to tell them secrets about this iron clad boat. He trys to find away to escape the spies. But everywhere he goes they are there. He decides to join the ships Navy crew. He works with the captain of the boat.
I liked that it was during the Civil War time period. Because i love learning about wars. I would probably say that i only read war books. I also liked how the author portrayed the characters. I liked all the description the author put in to. I liked how i learned some history while reading the book.
What could have been better. Well i guess there could have been more background history about the boy and the other characters. Over all there is not much much that could make it a better story.
I would give this book 3 golden stars out of 5. Because i have read books that i have enjoyed more than this one. But is was still an OK book, not one i would ever read again...

RKO
Once there was a man named Rufuz...
He lived high in the mountains of K-2. No he is not a mountain climber. He was actually born on K-2. You see a long time ago Rufuz was left on that mountain alone and free. He was raised by the near by goats who lived on K-2. The goats took him in as one of thier own.
Growing up Rufuz had to learn to take care of himself. The other goats gave Rufuz a job. His Job was the most inportant in all the land...or so he was told. He was the Orange Collector. So everyday Rufuz had to go far far down the mountain to collect the Oranges for his fellow goats.
One normal day Rufuz was walking...crawling down the mountain when all of a sudden he heard a peculiar noise none like he has ever heard before. So he set out to find what it was and left his fellow goat friends behind.
