To Be Or Not To Be...

9th Grade: What comes to your mind when you hear the words, "Now we're going to read Shakespeare!" Do you cringe in fear? Do you giggle with glee? What past experiences have you had with Shakespeare to make you react the way you do?



My first introduction to Shakespeare was when i was five years old and i played the Changeling. It was fun then because it was cool to be in a play with the big kids. I didn't understand the plot the dialogue or the odd costumes.
During my experience in drama one we did a short play by William Shakespeare. I played
a mystical fairy. Now i was older and i could not understand why the world makes such a big fuss over William Shakespeare's works. His Old English and made up creatures did not entertain or even draw my attention.

Now i have the opportunity to understand what William is trying to convey. Maybe i will learn to like his odd creatures and adore his old English. But we will see.
